Kankrej Cattle
The Kankrej cattle are a native of Kankrej town in Banaskantha district of North Gujarat and are named after the same. It is also known as Vadhiyari in Kachchh. Kankrej cattle are used both for milk production and agricultural purposes. It is adapted to the geo-climatic conditions of Saurashtra and Kachchh, have immense draught power, are resilient to stress conditions and are known for yielding good quantity of milk and good fat content even in stress conditions. It is renowned for its “Sawai Chaal”, i.e. the back leg reaches further than where the front leg landed, which helps ploughing of fields faster. Kankrej cattle have a well built body and are known for their beautiful looks with large half moon shaped horns.
